General Career Information
Excellent Employment Prospects within the Insulation Sector
The insulation industry offers excellent employment opportunities due
to cyclical worker turnover. Insulators often work independently
as well as in a team. Insulators that work within the commercial
and industrial sectors typically earn substantially more than those
working in residential construction due to the additional skills, training
and knowledge required.
Insulator Apprentice, Mechanic & Foreman
Applicants seeking the position of insulator apprentice will be instructed
in insulation methods & techniques through "on-the-job" training or
a formalized apprenticeship program.
Applicants seeking the position of insulator mechanic require 3-5 years
of professional experience and to have familiarity in applied math,
blueprint reading, schematic plumbing diagrams, mechanical designs,
sheet metal layout, and fabrication. The position of mechanic
foreman in addition to the above noted requirements, includes paid supervisory
functions. Leadership skills are essential in this position.
